Tracing the line

It is no wonder that the brush and sword were both taken up by Musashi. A samurai by profession, he was a swordsman first but was drawn to artistry as well. The two endeavors although seemingly completely unrelated require or include a goal and the desired path to the goal. You are essentially drawing lines whether you are handling a sword or a brush. The thing that changes is the tool and the canvas.

So then a true artist must strive to have ever increasing amounts of control over his line tracing ability and therefore, must include a daily practice of exactly that. Picturing a line from it’s finishing point(the goal) first and then following yourself from starting point tracing it out, but faithfully. In the video below that’s exactly what I realized, by not visualizing the end point first, you are unlikely to make your target and if you do, you won’t know how you did it.

How can we further extrapolate this idea for control over longer term goals?
