Losing

We all would like to keep winning continuously. But it’s doesn’t always work out for us. We have to deal with pressure in game, which can come from external and internal sources. Self development is much easier than winning or losing in competition. With self improvement you don’t have to deal with loss and investment of time so much. You can go about the rest of your day knowing that you didn’t eat that cookie, or you did a good workout that day, or you went for a nice long walk in nature. These are things that you can do for yourself that will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and that are good for your health.

Competition makes it quite difficult to feel good about yourself in the face of defeat. You have to deal with the self hatred and loathing that comes with the territory. Can you believe in yourself after loss? It is quite difficult to overcome these unseen obstacles. Especially when the results can be seen on your face.

But as Epictetus said ” The greater the difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it. Skillful captains gain their reputation from storms and tempests.” And competition is one of those types of storms, so remember the number of times you lost, got up and tried again. Work extra hard and go the extra mile in between competitions. Focus on what you can control and learn to weather the storm in victory or defeat. What else is there to do except try till you die.
