Doing the “Thing”

Recently, I came across this episode from one of my favorite podcasts, “Mindset Mentor” titled “Doing the “Thing“”. And the basic concept was we all have some procrastination in us. What we put off and where it comes from for everyone might be different. Fear of failure, lack of confidence, avoiding the truth, unprocessed mental loops can all cause us to put off the very “thing” that will move us in the right direction for our life. Sometimes tragically, it is put off until it is truly too late.

Whatever the reason, it needs to be rooted out and sorted appropriately so that you can indeed do the “thing” that you need to do. So stop talking about why you can’t do the “thing”. Stop making excuses to people and yourself about why doing the “thing” is so hard. Stop waiting until you have the skills to do the “thing”. Stop researching how other people do the “thing”. Stop doing anything else that is not the “thing” and do the “thing”. Then do it again. And again and again, until the “thing” becomes absolutely “nothing” and it feels only natural.

So many of our daily unconscious habits have already followed this pattern of learning and are integrated into our daily lives from walking and brushing our teeth to driving to our place of work. So feel confident that you can do the “thing”, since it is only an issue of repetition that will integrate into your life seamlessly after a period of time has passed.
